Venom Lords Bio:
Venom Lords formed in Chicago in 2004. They like zombie movies, cocktails, rock, country, swing, metal...you name it. Husband / wife duo Dan and Gina Knapik share guitar duties and vocals. Joining them is Gina’s former bandmate from the Pillowmints, Amy Anderson on bass and Tennesee trasplant, Scott Gibson on drums. With a few chords, they plow through songs paying tribute to Zombie Movies’ father, George Romero, and various other B-Movies. If you take a listen, you just may be able to save yourself in the event you are trapped in a house or world full of flesh eating zombies.
Venom Lords new video for the song, Dead Hate You, was recently mentioned on AMC’s Monsterfest and is in rotation on the local JBTV. Written and directed by L.A’s Seth Sherwood. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thbjSrb8CGM
Venom Lords will be playing through the summer and recording their third album.

"No one seems to be able to agree on just genre what their sound falls into (New wave? Punk? Garage rock? Mod? None of the above? All of the above?), but what everyone seems to agree upon is that the band’s sound is winning more and more fans through slap-happy live sets and a winning mixture of menace and drunken silliness."

"Formed by veterans of the Pillowmints and Not Rebecca, The Venom Lords are another two-girl, two-guy quartet, but they're aiming for more of a stripped-down and danceable New Wave of New Wave sound: You can tell by the black shirts and white ties, as well as by the song structures, which are part Blondie or Joan Jett and part early '90s English shoegazer rock. They haven't quite perfected their sound on their self-titled eight-song EP, but guitarist-vocalist Gina Knapik has personality to spare, and she and Dan Knapik unleash a powerful two-guitar attack on songs such as "Parachute Pants" and "Witch King." The Chicago foursome hits the road for a show at Viele's Planet, 126 E. Jefferson in Springfield, at 7 p.m. Saturday. You also can check them out at www.venomlords.com."

"Rising from the ashes of countless other bands (Not Rebecca, Pillowmints), Chicago quartet Venom Lords manage to sound simultaneously polished and fresh from the garage. Vocalist Gina Knapik straddles the line between Christina Martinez (Boss Hog) sexy and Elizabeth Elmore (The Reputation, Sarge) crush worthiness. Torrid guitar romps like "Orkansas" and "Texas Kills" are immediately road-trip worthy and "Michellica" and "So Precious" prove that even though the hooks are subtle, they're also numerous and consistent. With nary a speed bump to be found, this self-titled long player reeks of promise and a black lipstick kiss."

"If Nancy Sinatra were to smoke opium while cruisin down the highway in a cherry red 1968 Oldsmobile convertible, you'd have the Venom Lords. Rising up out of the murky waters of the Chicago music scene, the Venom Lords are perhaps the best band you've never heard of. The lead guitar and bass lines on songs like "Hart Island" are strong without being overpowering and seem to wrap around the sexy vocals like a dusty, old mink stole you find in your attic. With lyrics like, "...car broke down, no one else around..." "Texas Kills", the title track off their forthcoming CD, is a song that clearly defines what this band is about. It's soulfull and meloncholy without trying to be gothic. Gina's sex kitten vocals bring you along on her road trip down dirty back roads, while Dan and Amy's guitars fill the night air accompanied by Jon on the drums that dance off the undercarriage like so much loose gravel. In a scene full of so much watered down and corporate punk/emo/surfpunk, The Venom Lords are laying rubber on hot asphalt as they take you on the roadtrip of your life."
